CLAIMING YOUR BUS PASS IF YOU ARE OVER 60
CHANGES FROM 1st April 2010
The government
is changing the date on which both men and women will become eligible for a bus
pass for free travel in England.
From 1st
April 2010, you will have to wait a few months longer to claim your pass when
you reach age 60.
Examples of the
birth dates and the dates on which you can claim your passes on are given below

This is part of
the governments Pension Equalisation policy, which is aimed at changing the dates on which women can claim
their pensions, current at age 60, to age 65, the same date when men receive
their pensions.
These changes
affect all people in England, and not just those in the Colchester area.
If you have
already claimed your pass, you are not affected by these changes
