Fun Factory is a group of residents of Chappel and Wakes Colne who have got together to organise social events for both villages. Most recently they organised a fantastic Barn Dance, which you can read about on the events section of this website.
We asked them to tell us about Fun Factory:
How did Fun Factory come about?
Do you remember the Village Appraisal that many of the villagers completed earlier this year? Well, there is an awful lot of hard work and
analysis going on behind the scenes however; part of the appraisal was about
village life and ways of improving it. Over forty people completed the
volunteer forms with ideas ranging from organised walks to a dominoes evening,
with offers of help and expertise.
As a result, a group of five came together to organise the
barn dance at the end of 2006 and a 60’s evening which was a joint event with
the East Anglian Railway Museum.
Does Fun Factory make money out of the events?
There is no desire to make a surplus or nominate a good
cause just simply to increase the social activity in the villages. If any
surplus were made the proceeds would be directed to local good causes.
Why Fun Factory?
We have decided to call ourselves Fun Factory as
it sums up what we're trying to achieve!
How is Fun Factory organised?
We are set up with a constitution, bank account and so on. However, we don't want involvement to be limited to the original five people, so any one can join in.
Which leads on to this question - how can I get involved?
It's easy really. If you want to see something happen in Chappel
or Wakes Colne the current members of Fun Factory are more than willing to
help/guide you. You just need to get in touch and we'll help however we can.
