Much loved by train enthusiasts and those who love the nostalgia of
steam trains. You can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells lost with the
advent of diesel locomotives. There’s lots to see and do, and it’s
great for a family day out. The Museum has a wide collection of
locomotives and rolling stock, some of which are fully restored and
others are undergoing repair and restoration. The Restoration Shed was
built in 1983-4, prior to which most work had to take place in the
Goods Shed or in the open.
As well as the ever popular Thomas the Tank Engine days, there is a full calendar of events throughout the year.
The museum is open every day of the year (except Christmas Day) from 10am to 4pm.
The museum hosts the annual Cider and Beer Festivals (which you can find out more on this website).
